• You can stay in Europe for no more than 165 days a year.
• You cannot work during this period.

Drivers need to be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid driving licence for Europe. Some travellers may also need an international driving permit. Drivers may need to show their booking contract and a valid passport when picking up the car.

To cross borders, carry the car documents, vehicle registration, insurance and warranty booklet. Lease periods vary by supplier; Citroën EuroPass generally allows up to 175 calendar days, with Portugal limited to 90 days, subject to the applicable supplier terms.

One significant difference can be the pricing structure. Car hire costs may rise with each day of booking, while leasing rates can reduce over longer periods. Leasing can also provide access to newer vehicles, subject to supplier availability. As a buyback programme, car leasing paperwork usually needs to be completed several weeks before the pickup date.
