Instead of relying on scheduled tours, drivers can visit a multitude of countries, each with their own cultures and traditions, delicious cuisines and national landmarks.

Car leasing is a fantastic alternative to long-term car rental in Europe. The insurance included is undoubtedly a highlight, covering many European countries! Leasing is a tax-free buyback programme endorsed by the French government to encourage tourism.

- You cannot work during this period.

Car Leasing Versus Car Hire in Europe

One significant difference is the ability to save money. Car hire costs rise with each day of booking, but with leasing, the price decreases with time. Also, car hire does not guarantee a brand-new model, while leasing does. Car leasing in Europe is cheaper because it is a buyback program, so paperwork must be completed at least a few weeks before the pick-up date.

Other benefits include a brand-new vehicle, 24-hour roadside assistance, Unlimited mileage, over 30 European pickup and drop off locations, full insurance with no excess, and coverage in 42 countries. (Conditions apply.)

What Models of Car are Available?

There are 3 companies to lease from in Europe, and these are; Renault, Peugeot and Citroen. Customers can choose from any models of car available at the time of booking. Most models are manual drive, rather than automatic. There is also a choice of diesel or petrol models. Diesel in most European countries works out at approximately 20% cheaper, so there is more opportunity to save money here.

These three companies offer an immense variety of vehicles, making choosing the best model, an overwhelming experience. UDrive takes the hassle from our customers and compares rates of these three companies to suit your needs.

Indeed, ferry travel is a quick and easy way of country hopping and websites like AFerry, the world’s biggest ferry website helps drivers plan routes, find deals, and buy tickets, all by using their extensive resources.

Places to Explore in Europe by Using the Ferry

Balearic Islands

This popular holiday destination of Europe includes stunning islands like Mallorca, Minorca, Formentera, and the party capital of Ibiza. As an independent division of Spain, road trippers get to experience everything Spanish about cuisine and culture, but unique vibes of each island make each visit special.

Azores Islands

The Independent newspaper called it the Atlantic Ocean’s best-kept secret. The Telegraph called it Europe’s answer to Hawaii. Indeed, as an autonomous part of Portugal, road-trippers who enjoy the great outdoors will be delighted because the Azores Islands are known for their gorgeous lakes, deep canyons, and water sports. With an average temperature year-round of 20 degrees, this destination is perfect for those who do not like the full summer heat.

Cyclades Islands

This group of 220 Aegean Sea islands are Greece’s most famous tourist destinations. Road trippers explore the ancient world’s most important archaeological ruins while soaking up the atmosphere of a laid-back lifestyle. Some famous islands include Mykonos with its white chapels, Santorini with its idyllic view, Milos and Naxos.

Dodecanese Islands

Another favourite destination, belonging to Greece, the Dodecanese islands include beautiful destinations like Rhodes, Kos and Patmos. Bringing a new meaning to island hopping, this is a wonderful destination with beautiful landscapes, energetic vibes of an Aegean lifestyle and delicious flavours of genuine Greek cuisine.

Delightful Greece, France and the UK

Hang around for a few nights in places like Athens to capture the essence of a country renowned for its vibrant history and archaeological and mythological importance. We also love road tripping around France. Tasting delicious French cuisine and enjoying mild summer weather, this is another country connecting drivers up to others through its many ferry services. After exploring everything French, think about heading to the UK, for a bit of British.

The above are just a few examples of places to travel by ferry. AFerry lists times, and routes for more than 90 countries around the world, so planning a european road trip has never been easier. Also listing monthly special deals by all leading ferry companies, they help drivers get more value for money wherever possible.

Hitting the open road for a holiday evokes an intense feeling of freedom. Explore new destinations, see picture-postcard landscapes and enjoy the sights in your own time. If you’re looking for inspiration for road trip ideas in Europe, these destinations are worth visiting.

Germany: Simply Inspiring

Coming from France, drivers could do worse than a road route through Germany while appreciating its history at the same time. From the country’s oldest city, Trier, to sampling wines in Riesling, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Before hitting chic Berlin, explore Heidelberg, as well as Nuremberg and Dresden for a dip into the country’s recent past around the Second World War.

Rendezvous En France

To avoid the romance of Paris and its traffic-choked streets, take the A26 and head to Reims, renowned capital of the Champagne region that is famoous for its Gothic cathedral. A drive through pretty countrysides reveals the delightful town of Burgundy and further on, historical Lyon, before travelling along the A7 and into the Rhone Valley. Out the other side and you’ll be just a few hours from the sunny playgrounds of Côte d’Azur.

Portugal: Europe’s West Coast

A beautiful country that offers a diverse list of sites and sleepy inland towns, the best starting point sets the bar high. From the UNESCO World Heritage site of Guimaraes, drivers can easily get to Porto, widely considered the country’s second city. From here, a lazy drive through the gorgeous greenery of Amarante strikes out to the Atlantic coast and the beaches awaiting you at Figueira da Foz. Tackle the buzzing capital of Lisbon or bypass this in favour of Arrifana and the Algarve’s Mediterranean shores.

Made in Italy

Italy to most vacationers is an open treasure chest of stunning views, quiet historic streets and hopping mad modernity. For a taster, the often-overlooked Northern part of Italy is a secret waiting to be discovered. Whether it’s a run-around Tuscany for picture perfect towns, culture and wine, artsy Florence or the trendy Lombard resorts around Lake Como, there are also some quaint not-to-miss towns, including Tremezzo and stunning Lecco.

UK: Home of Amazing Moments

As an island, most tourists stay around London but for adventure, look north to the oft-quoted ‘independent’ county of Yorkshire with its rural rolling hills and history. For some, it can be a bit bleak, but for others, the county holds a deep, convoluted past and that is scratching the surface when you consider the War of the Roses, and the battle of Thrones between the houses of Lancaster and York.

Also take in beautiful villages, through the ‘cheesy’ towns of Swaledale and Wensleydale, the medieval city of York and the fascinating town of Harrogate. Equally, why not recall the fictional roots of Dracula in Whitby where Bram Stoker got his teeth into the ‘bat-king’?

Spain: Paella, Flamenco and Much More

Driving from the capital Madrid to historic Avila puts drivers in good stead for a thoroughly Spanish experience. Avila has a castle wall, and the small town-atmosphere gets you in a medieval mood. Driving into Salamanca offers the chance for a step back into the past as the area wreaks history.

Just two hours’ drive away, taste the best tapas and let the Sangria flow in the laid-back bars of Leon in Northern Spain. Otherwise, Picos de Europa lures in tourists with breath-taking views, towering cliffs and excellent hiking trails.

Another two hours and cruise into the heart of the Basque country and Bilbao. The compact city centre is easy to walk and to enjoy riverside attractions on the way to the Guggenheim Museum and Zubizuri Bridge.

Visit Greece: An All-Time Classic Destination

Famed for its sultry Mediterranean islands, central Greece is just as fascinating, and history lovers love it. Setting off from Athens, drive to Thessaloniki, the town of Thebes. From here, cruise to the hand-made carpet capital called Arachova, at the foot of Mountain Parnassos.

From here, and less than 10 kilometres away is the archaeological site of Delphi. Set out for Kalambaka for its famed monasteries before heading over to Meteora, a unique geological phenomenon. An enjoyable 310-kilometre drive back to Athens and the cradle of the ancient Greek will give you enough time to enjoy history in all its unadulterated glory.

Europe Car Leasing

The whole process was trouble free and easy. The most difficult part was finding the place to return the vehicle to but when we did we got a lift back to the airport in the shuttle. It took all of two minutes.

When we arrived the vehicle was ready to go. All we had to do was try and not crash it and fill it up with fuel and windscreen wiper fluid. It came with GPS and that was a godsend.

For us the whole deal was good value and if I am lucky enough to spend another six months in France/Europe I would hire a car with you again.

France Car Leasing

Booking the lease car through your company was trouble free with all the required information supplied. You responded to any queries I had, promptly and efficiently. The new Peugeot 308 we leased for 30 days was an excellent car to drive and the right size for two people and the minor roads that you encounter in the French countryside.

We received excellent service when we picked up and returned our car from TT Car Transit at Orly. The only problem we had was with our electronic keys on our new Peugeot 308. We were able to contact Peugeot on their service phone line and explain the problem in English. They sent us to a Peugeot service centre and followed up later to make sure all had been resolved.

Great value, amazing service

We contacted Udrive for car rental of 54 days, but they re-directed us to car leasing. Amazing! Turned out to be excellent value, and we had our own brand new Citroen C4 Picasso, which was great for our family of 4. Pre-sales service was informative, and everything went smoothly.

P. Simmons, Echuca, VIC

Great service

Carolyn from Udrive provided great service in working out how to do our car lease. We had a few little twists in our itinerary, and Carolyn helped us figure them out so that it all still worked. Loved cruising around in our brand new Peugeot - great drive, and we're thinking of getting one back home!
